
Prince Albert drops first game of 2016 in Saskatoon

Saskatoon, SK - The Saskatoon Blades broke open a tight game in the third period as they knocked off the Prince Albert Raiders 6-1 on Friday afternoon on News Years Day at the SaskTel Centre.
Matteo Gennaro recorded the Raiders' only goal on the afternoon as the scored with a power play expiring in the second period. Brendan Guhle and Vojtech Budik collected assists.
Carrying a one-goal lead into the final frame, the Blades scored four times in the third period. Ryan Graham led the way with two goals and one assist for three points, while defenceman Bryton Sayers scored a pair. Connor Gay (2a), Cameron Hebig (1g-1a), Wyatt Sloboshan (1g-1a) and Nikita Soshnin (2a) had solid contributions with two points each.
Ian Scott got the start for the Raiders and made 24 saves on 29 shots before being relieved by Rylan Parenteau during the third period. Parenteau stopped five of six attempts.
Brock Hamm had a big performance for the Blades as he kicked out 31 of 32 shots on goal.
The Blades outshot the Raiders 35-32. Prince Albert went 0-for-4 on the power play, while Saskatoon was 3-for-6.
The Raiders were unable to pick up at least a point for the first time in five games and see their record slip to 22-12-3-1. The Blades end a three-game losing streak and improve to 14-20-3-0.
The Raiders remain on the road as they visit the Regina Pats on Sunday, January 3 for a 4:00 PM matinee. The team is back at the Art Hauser Centre on Tuesday, January 5 when they take on the Memorial Cup Host Red Deer Rebels. Puck drop is 7:00 PM.
