Prince George, BC -- Victoria Royals' forward Kody McDonald scored two goals and added the shootout winner as the club earned a 5-4 victory over the Prince George Cougars to sweep the weekend series and conclude their five-game road trip.

Notes:

Against the Cougars: With tonight's win, the Royals have now improved to 6-1-0-0 this season against Prince George. This marks the most wins in a season against the Cougars since 2013-14, in which they went 7-1-0-0. The two teams will meet twice more this season, with a two game set in Victoria on March 1st and 2nd.

Royal First: Forward Carson Miller scored his first two goals as a Royal in tonight's contest. Miller was acquired by Victoria in January as part of the trade that sent Dante Hannoun to the Prince Albert Raiders.

Milestone Man: In tonight's contest, Royals' forward Tarun Fizer played in his 100th career WHL regular season game. Fizer was originally drafted in the fourth round, 69th overall, in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft. Throughout his career with the Royals, he has recorded 13 goals and 25 assists.

Climbing the Ranks: Royals' goaltender Griffen Outhouse earned his 110th career WHL regular season victory tonight. Outhouse is now only 10 wins back of Tyson Sexsmith (Vancouver Giants and Medicine Hat Tigers) and Corey Hirsch (Kamloops Blazers) for the most wins by a goaltender in WHL history.

Shootout: The Royals record improved to 3-2 in shootouts this season with tonight's win. Kody McDonald scored the shootout winner against his former team, and his second of the season.

Road Trip Recap: Tonight, the Royals' five-game road trip concluded. The team visited Spokane, Tri-City, Kamloops and Prince George as they posted a record of 3-2-0-0. The club plays six of their remaining 13 regular season games on the road.

Coming Up: Victoria returns home on Monday, February 18th, and Tuesday, February 19th to battle the Kelowna Rockets in a back-to-back set.
