
Rox Win Fifth Straight

ST CLOUD-The St. Cloud Rox won their fifth game in a row with a 5-1 victory over Waterloo in front of 1,371 fans at Joe Faber Field. The Rox are now just one-and-a-half games behind first-place Willmar at 17-13 and are a half-game behind second-place Alexandria with six games left in the season (four at home).
Rox starting pitcher Lucas Long (Arizona) was the St. Cloud Times player of the game. The righty went eight innings, allowing only one run on five hits with seven strikeouts. St. Cloud received a total team effort at the plate, with six Rox combining for nine hits and six walks.
Chris Paul (California), Andy Henkemeyer (Minnesota) and Nick Rau (Georgia Southern) each had a pair of hits in the game for the Rox. Jamie Simpson (Eastern Michigan), Mark Rhine (Wake Forest), Boo Vazquez (Pittsburgh) and Paul each had an RBI.
The Bucks got on the board first with a solo home run leading off the top of the third inning, while the Rox did not get a hit until the bottom of the fifth. St. Cloud broke through for two runs on four hits in the fifth, with the eventual game winning RBI going to Rhine on a groundout.
The Rox got two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on a Vazquez double and Simpson sacrifice fly. Long pitched through the eighth before deferring to Adam Maxon (Jacksonville), who pitched a scoreless ninth.
