MANKATO, Minn.-The MoonDogs just didn't have enough to stop the Huskies big hitting in the 6-17 loss Monday at the Frank.
Matt Borens started the game on the mound and went 6.1 innings deep, struck out one batter, giving up seven runs all on ten Husky hits.
Julien Soucy then came in for relief and only made it a third of an inning, quickly getting relieved by Dirk Lindaman who also only made it a third of an inning and gave up six hits.
Michael Frerick then came in for the MoonDogs and lasted 2.0 innings, striking out three, and gave up five hits.
The big hitter for the evening was Danny Murphy who went three-for-three with a double and a run batted in. Chase Simpson also had a good night at the plate for he smacked a double to left field. Simpson went one-for-four with his double.
Patrick Goelz gets the clutch hitter award for the evening for he got an at bat in the ninth, took one swing, got a hit, and drove in a run for the 'Dogs.
The MoonDogs are having trouble piecing everything together at this moment in the season, and have to find a way to get a few wins on the board in these last few games of the season.
The next home game will be Tuesday, August seventh v. the Duluth Huskies at the Frank. The first pitch is scheduled for a 7:05 p.m. start. Tuesday is Back to School Night presented by Capstone Publishing and Hot 96.7. First 400 kids receive a free book.
