Atlantic City, NJ (July 16, 2007) -- The Atlantic City Surf scored four runs in the sixth inning, five runs in the seventh inning, and four more in the eighth inning in a 13-2 victory over the Rox at Bernie Robbins Stadium in Atlantic City, NJ in the first game of the second half of the 2007 Can-Am League Season. The Rox had a 2-0 lead after five innings before the Surf scored 13 unanswered in the win. RHP John Kelly allowed just one hit in the first five innings but allowed four runs in the sixth on five base hits. LF Eugene Julien as well as 3B Melvin Falu each had a pair of hits in the Rox loss, which dropped the club to 20-27 overall.

With the Rox on top 1-0 in the fifth, Julien singled, stole second, and scored on a LF Jeremy Coronado RBI single. The Rox stranded the bases loaded in the fifth, but had a 2-0 lead with Kelly on the hill. Kelly fanned nine batters and allowed just a single hit in five innings of work, but got in trouble in the sixth. LF Ed Montague drove home a run with an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1, and DH Rob Fischer's sacrifice fly gave the Surf their second run of the night. With two outs, Kelly got RF Rico Santana to pop up to right, but the ball was lost in the lights, allowing Santana to reach on a double and the go-ahead run crossed the plate. The play stood as a turning point, as the Surf struck four five more runs in the eighth and four in the ninth.

Fischer hit a grand slam in the eighth inning and five RBI in the game. Surf C Wally Rosa had three hits and three RBI. For the Rox, Julien had a multi-hit game, his first since June 10th. The Rox send RHP Mike McTamney (1-6, 3.76 ERA) to the hill Tuesday at 7:05 in Atlantic City against LHP Brian Rodaway (6-3, 3.52 ERA).
