Sussex Skyhawks News Release
Vince Davis once again came through with a solid performance to propel the Sussex Skyhawks over the Nashua Pride, 4-1. Davis allowed only one run over 7 solid innings of work, striking out 5 while allowing only 5 hits.
On this night Davis was not the only pitching star, as Bart Braun Jr. and Jamie Merchant pitched the final 2 innings, striking out 4 Pride batters along the way. Jason Kosow was solid for the Pride as he allowed 4 runs, only 2 of which were earned over 7 innings of work, however the Pride bats were quieted by the Sussex pitching staff.
The Skyhawks offense was an all around effort, with seven batters getting hits, eight of which were singles. The Skyhawks first game of the second half was a success as they combined stellar pitching and timely hitting. The team hopes that this is the start of a big second half, one that will erase memories of the poor first half of the season. Check out the Skyhawks take on the Nashua Pride tommorow night at Skylands Park, with first pitch set for 7:05.
The Pride will send Lance Stevens(2-3) to the mound against Ryan Dittfurth(2-4) for the Skyhawks.
