The New Haven County Cutters got a great start from Kevin Culpepper to win coming out of the gate in the second half. Culpepper allowed just one run on five hits and one walk, while striking out three in 7 2/3 innings of work to improve to 1-1 on the year. The Cutters plated all four of their runs in the first inning, but that proved to be enough as Culpepper kept the Capitales in check the rest of the way. Cutters' closer Andy Weimer picked up his sixth save of the year with a perfect ninth.

Grays 8, New Jersey 2

The Grays got a good outing from starting pitcher Beau Dannemiller to win their first contest of the second half. Dannemiller allowed two runs on seven hits and struck out five in eight innings of work to improve to 3-4 on the year. The Grays pounded out 13 hits in support of their starter, led by 3B Ben Tinius who was 3-for-3 with two doubles, a run scored and four RBI. 1B Jose Valasquez also had a good night at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI.

The Sussex Skyhawks got a good outing from starting pitcher Vince Davis to win their first game of the second half. Davis allowed one earned run on five hits and struck out five in seven innings of work to improve to 4-3 on the year. Reliever Jamie Merchant picked up his second save of the year with a scoreless ninth. Skyhawks RF Scott Grimes led the way at the plate going 2-for-3 with an RBI.

North Shore 5, Worcester 1

The North Shore Spirit got off to a good start in the second half behind a good outing from starting pitcher Ryan Bicondoa. Bicondoa held the Tornadoes to five hits and one earned run through seven innings of work. Bicondoa walked two batters and struck out 10 of the 27 hitters he faced to improve to 4-2 on the year. Spirit 1B Vic Davilla had a great night at the plate, going 4-for-5 with a home run, and four RBI. North Shore CF B.J. Weed also chipped in with a nice 3-for-5 effort with three runs scored.

Atlantic City 13, Brockton 2

The Atlantic City Surf scored four runs in the sixth inning, five runs in the seventh inning, and four more in the eighth inning in a 13-2 victory over the Rox. The Rox had a 2-0 lead after five innings before the Surf scored 13 unanswered in the win. The real dagger came off the bat of DH Rob Fischer in the eighth inning. That's when Fischer belted a grand slam, his fifth home run of the season, giving him five RBI in the game.
