St. Cloud Rox News Release
Duluth, MN - St. Cloud (31-8) closed out a sweep of Duluth (21-18) to finish its longest road trip of the season with a perfect 5-0 record.
Chase Grillo (Washington State) closed out the game for the second straight night and earned his league-leading 12th save of the season. With a dozen saves this summer, Grillo now holds the Rox' record for most saves in a single season.
St. Cloud took the early lead on a few errors by the Huskies in the first as John Nett (St. Cloud State) scored the opening tally for his league-best 50th run scored this season. The Rox led the game from wire-to-wire after taking a two-run lead in the first.
The Rox extended the lead in the fourth after loading the bases with no outs. Josh Cowden (BYU) started off the frame with one of his two hits on the day. Nett and Carson Keithley (Texas State) each drove in a run in the inning.
Brayden Gainey (Alabama) made his fourth start of the season on Monday and went a solid five innings to earn the victory. Gainey gave up just one run on four hits while striking out four Huskies batters.
The bullpen also came through with a couple big innings to get the game to the ninth. Danny Glenos (Montevallo) and Enrique Ozoa (Southern University) each tossed a scoreless frame late.
