Traverse City Pit Spitters News Release

Traverse City, MI - The Traverse City Pit Spitters scored five runs in the eighth inning to break the tie and win game one of the series 8-3 over the Battle Creek Battle Jacks.

The Battle Jacks struck first with two runs in the second inning. They added one in the fifth, but Adam Christopher limited the damage.

Christopher pitched six innings, allowing five hits and three runs. He didn't walk a batter and struck out six in the no decision.

The bats heated up in the fifth. Alec Atkinson and Camden Traficante singled home runs to tie the game at three. With newly turned reliever Derek Clark holding the Battle Jacks at bay, the tie turned into a lead as the offense blew up in the eighth.

After back-to-back walks in the eighth, Colin Summerhill singled home the go-ahead run. The next batter, Brenned Dorighi, singled home two more. Three batters later, Hunter Tabb singled home another pair to go up 8-3. His RBI single gave him the team lead over Summerhill and Traficante.

Clark threw three no-hit innings out of the bullpen. He allowed just one walk, and erased him on a double play, facing the minimum. He also struck out four batters, moving into fourth place in the Northwoods League total.
