Bismarck Larks News Release
The Larks dominated on the mound to win back-to-back games and the first game of the series against the Mankato MoonDogs, 3-0.
Bismarck saw three pitchers take the mound as they combined for the shutout allowing only six combined hits. Carter Rost (Wichita State) got his first start of the year at home and pitched a gem. He allowed only four hits in seven full innings - the first not until the 5th inning - and gave up no earned runs, while striking out six Moondogs.
The Larks saw impressive outings from Justin Goldstein (Middle Tennessee State) and Edwin Colon (Northwestern Oklahoma State) out of the bullpen as they clinched the combined shutout. Justin Goldstein finished with the Metro Area Ambulance Fastest Pitch of the game at 89 mph.
Six Larks hitters ended the night with base hits, including an RBI double from Aaron Mann (Drury University) in the bottom of the third to take the lead. Mann finished with two base hits on the day and pushed his RBI streak to four games.
Jake Hjelle (Minnesota-Crookston) sent his fifth ball over the fence on the year in the bottom of the eighth to add two big insurance runs for the Larks. Hjelle finished two-for-four with a home run, a double, and two RBIs.
Luke Glascoe (UC-San Diego) went one-for-three with a run, but more importantly, delivered the Fetzer Electric Play of the Game. With a runner at third and only one out in the sixth, the Larks were trying to hang on to their one-run lead. Glascoe had the same intentions after punching out the potential tying run after a fly ball hit into center field.
The Moondogs saw an impressive performance on the mound from T.J Martin (College of St. Scholastica) who went four innings, allowing one earned run on five hits.
The Larks are back in action tomorrow night for the final game of their six-game homestand. First pitch is set for 6:35 PM tomorrow night for game two against the Mankato MoonDogs. You can catch all the action on the exclusive streaming network of the Northwoods League, ESPN+.
