Rox Drop Series to Waterloo, 4-2

Waterloo, Iowa - The St. Cloud Rox were back at it Friday night with all hopes of splitting their series against the #2 Waterloo Bucks. The Rox would unfortunately drop the series by a final score of 4-2.

The Waterloo Bucks took a 1-0 lead right away in the bottom of the first inning over the Rox as Marcos Calderon led off with a single and then stole second base. David Kerian followed with a double scoring Calderon for the lead.

St. Cloud came back in the top of the third as Eric Loxtercamp (R-So., St. Cloud State University) led off getting hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Conor Keniry (Jr., Wake Forest University) followed with a single up the middle to advance Loxtercamp to third. Next up was Devin Pearson (Fr., University of California) as he grounded out to second to score Loxtercamp tying the game up 1-1.

With a 1-0 count Adam Martin (Jr., Western Carolina University) hit a bomb over the fence for a solo home run taking the Rox to a 2-1 lead over the Bucks in the top of the fourth.

Waterloo would tie the game up 2-2 in the bottom of the fifth off a single with the bases loaded. The Bucks would then take the lead again posting a run in the bottom of the seventh making it a 3-2 game. Waterloo would extend their lead 4-2 off a sacrifice fly out to right field for only the first out.

The Rox would get out of the seventh inning only allowing two runs to be down 4-2 going into the eighth inning. St. Cloud would not be able to comeback falling to the Bucks 4-2.

On the mound for the Rox was Kyle Murray (Fr., Cal State Fullerton) pitching 5.0 innings striking out three and only allowed five hits. John Oltman (R-Fr., Creighton University), pitching 1.0 innings and Jordan Talbot (Fr., University of California) for 2.0 innings of work, later relieved Murray in the game.

The St. Cloud Rox (9-15, 9-15 North) will be back in action Saturday as they travel to Alexandria to take on the Blue Anchors before having their first day off on Sunday. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m.

St. Cloud will be back at home for three straight games starting on Monday, June 24 as they welcome the Alexandria Blue Anchors for one and then the Rochester Honkers for two. Game times are slated for 7:05 p.m. each day.

Monday, June 24 will be a Tattoo Night, presented by Wingnut Tattoo and Body Piercing. Fans can register at the game for your chance to win a free Rox tattoo and the first 400 kids 14 and under will receive a Rox temporary tattoo. It will also be "Military Mondays" presented by Regional Diagnostic Radiology, Active military members or veterans with a valid ID or military discharge papers receive a half priced reserved ticket. Tuesday, June 25 is a Rox Poster Schedule Giveaway, presented by Rengel Printing. All fans will receive a 2013 Rox poster at the gate. It will also be "Not Too Old Tuesdays" presented by The Legend's of Heritage Place. The first 75 fans, 60 years & older receive a Rox seat cushion and reserved tickets for fans 60 years and older are half off!

The Rox final home game in the three game stand on Wednesday, June 26 will be a Mustache Night, presented by Wells Fargo where the first 250 kids 14 & under receive a mustache. It is also "College ID Night!" presented by 104.7 KCLD and WILD Country 99. For the game, all fans that show their college ID will receive a Charter Sports Deck ticket for half price. One lucky fan will win a pair of WE FEST tickets at each game.
