ST. CLOUD, MN - The St. Cloud Rox (43-24) dropped game one against the Minnesota Mud Puppies (11-32) with a 15-11 final score, Friday, August 11th. St. Cloud has earned a playoff spot in the Great Plains West division.
The starting pitcher for St. Cloud was Ryan Chmielewski. Chmielewski worked through 5.0 innings in his 12th appearance, striking out five batters. Chmielewski has 41 strikeouts to just 16 walks over 39.2 innings pitched this season.
Jose Gonzalez had three hits, three RBI, and one run scored as the Rox scored 11 runs in game one of the series. Gonzalez sits on a five-game hitting streak, with 10 RBI during that stretch. Noah Greise had a two-run home run late, coming around to score off a walk as well. Greise has two home runs, a double, and five RBI in his last three games. Kevin Butler had another multi-hit game, with a double, an RBI, and three runs scored. Butler has hit three of his five doubles this season over his last two games. Michael McNamara had a double, two runs scored, and an RBI.
Daniel Caylor made his 5thappearance, striking out a batter over 1.0 inning pitched. Brady Posch made his 10th appearance of 2023. Ronaldo Fernandez worked through 2.0 innings, striking out three batters in his 3rdappearance of the season. Mason Olson kept Minnesota scoreless, striking out a batter in the 9thinning. Olson has 22 strikeouts to five walks over 12.1 innings pitched for St. Cloud.
