St. Cloud Rox News Release
La Crosse, WI -Â Austin Dubsky was sharp from the very beginning. The right-hander from Murray State threw 93 pitches and logged 8 innings to lead the Rox to their 9th straight victory, 10-0, over the La Crosse Loggers. St. Cloud improves to 16-6 on the 2016 campaign.
Dubsky struck out the first two batters he faced in the first inning and ultimately retired the first 12 batters he faced in the contest. He only allowed three base runners through 7 innings (2 walks, 1 fielder's choice). It wasn't until the 8th inning when Dubsky allowed his first and only hit of the game, which was a line drive up the middle. These 8 innings pitched mark the longest outing by a Rox starter this season.
In the 4 games prior to tonight, the Rox offense posted 41 runs (most among any Northwoods League team during that span). Tonight, St. Cloud continued to erupt and it began in the 4th inning (already up 1-0) when Michael Strem (Boston College) blasted an opposite field solo home run. This ignited a 4-run 4th inning and the Rox took a 5-0 lead.
St. Cloud's offense only mustered one hit from the 5th through the 8th and then the bats broke out again. The club drew 4 walks. Luke Ringhofer (South Dakota State) connected on a 2-run single in the frame. Within a blink of an eye, the Rox led 10-0 after a 5-run 9th inning.
TJ Friedl (Nevada) and Luke RInghofer (South Dakota State) both extended their on-base streaks in the game. Friedl has gotten on base safely in 15 consecutive games and Ringhofer has reached base in 18 straight contests.
The Rox battle the Loggers again Friday night at Copeland Park. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. and the Rox Solid Pregame Warmup starts at 6:35 p.m on 1390 AM The Fan. RHP Matt Shannon (2-0, 0.00) starts for St. Cloud. Nick Raquet (1-1) will start for La Crosse.
Single game tickets can be purchased 24 hours a day at www.stcloudrox.com, by calling (320) 240-9798 or by visiting the Rox ticket office located at the Municipal Athletic Complex.
The St. Cloud Times Player of the Game is Austin Dubsky. Dubsky logged a season high 8 shutout innings and only surrendered one hit.
