Brockton Rox News Release

LYNN, MA - 1B Jeff Brooks drove in four runs for North Shore as the Spirit handed the Rox their third straight loss in an 12-1 drubbing at Fraser Field in Lynn, MA before 3,017 fans. Breaking a 1-1 tie with five runs in the third inning, North Shore added three runs in the fourth on their way to victory. C Jason Radwan, 3B Zach Strong, and SS Eugene Julien each had two hits for the Rox in the loss, the only hits of the game for Brockton. Radwan has hits in nine straight games. RHP Brad Guy took his first loss of the year, allowing eight runs (seven earned) in 3.1 innings pitched. The Rox fall to 10-14 with the loss and the Spirit improve to 13-8 in 2006

After singles by Radwan and Strong in the second, CF Brad Rosenblat drove home the first run of the game with an RBI groundout to give Brockton a 1-0 lead. However, this would be the final lead of the game for the Rox. Brooks drove home the tying run with a grounder in the second to make it 1-1. In the third, the Spirit struck for five runs; SS Chris Rowan plated two with a single to left, and Brooks brought home two more with a single to center.

In the fourth, an altercation at third between Spirit LF Garrett Weir and Guy cleared the benches, resulting in ejections to both Weir and Guy, Spirit Manager John Kennedy, and North Shore Player-Coach Vic Davilla. The altercation broke but provided no fire for the Rox, as LHP Brian Morse shut down the Rox over seven innings, earning the win by allowing a single run on just five hits with nine strikeouts.

Tomorrow the Rox and Spirit play the second game of the series with RHP John Boker (3-1, 4.18 ERA) facing off against the top pitcher in the league, RHP Ryan Bicondoa (4-0, 0.00 ERA), who has not allowed a run in 30 innings this season. First pitch scheduled for 7:05 PM.
