Brockton, MA (August 26, 2007) - The Brockton Rox have announced their Most Valuable Player, Most Valuable Pitcher, and Most Improved Player for the 2007 season. 1B Francisco Lebron was named Most Valuable Player and LHP Rolando Viera was named Most Valuable Pitcher, while Rookie C Lee Rubin was named Most Improved Player. The players were honored during a pregame ceremony on Sunday, August 26.

Lebron currently leads the team with a .305 batting average, .427 on-base percentage, 14 HR, and 52 RBI. The 14 homers tie a Rox single-season record and also place Lebron fourth in the Can-Am League's 2007 leader board. A native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Lebron began his career in 1999 in the New York Mets organization. He also has spent time in the Chicago White Sox organization. He came to Brockton in 2006 via a trade with the Quebec Capitales and hit .322 with 7 HR last year for the Rox.

LHP Rolando Viera has a 10-5 record with Brockton this season with a 2.45 ERA. He is tied for second in the league with 10 wins, has the second lowest ERA in the league, and is fifth in the league with 89 strikeouts. On July 27th against the New Haven County Cutters, he tied a Can-Am League single game record with 14 strikeouts in one game. He then threatened to break his own record on August 10th against the Quebec Capitales when he fanned 11 batters in one game. In 2007, his second season with Brockton, he has become the team's career strikeout with 199 and is second in career wins with 19.

Rookie C Lee Rubin began the season as a backup but earned the starting role midway through the season. He has been described a "brick wall" behind the plate by his teammates and coaching staff. He caught LHP Bryan Morse's one-hit shutout and RHP Mike McTamney's complete-game in a doubleheader against the North Shore Spirit on August 9th. At the plate this season, he has progressed offensively as he has gotten more at-bats. On August 14th against the North Shore Spirit, he hit his first career HR.

The Rox finish the 2007 season on the road. They play the New Haven County Cutters Tuesday through Friday and the Atlantic City Surf Saturday through Monday, September 3 .All games can be heard on WXBR 1460-AM and streaming at brocktonrox.com.
