
Round Rock Takes Series Finale with 5-3 Win over Sugar Land

SUGAR LAND, Texas - The Round Rock Express (9-12) picked up a Sunday victory over the Sugar Land Space Cowboys (14-7) by a score of 5-3 in the final game of the series at Constellation Field. Round Rock took two of the final three games in the series but Sugar Land won four of six to take the series.
Express starter RHP Shaun Anderson (1-0, 1.80) was credited with the victory after he recorded 5.0 innings, allowing one run on one hit with three walks and seven strikeouts. Sugar Land starter RHP Misael Tamarez (2-2, 5.64) took home the loss after he threw 3.1 innings, giving up five runs on four hits and five walks. RHP Jonathan Hernandez picked up his first save of the season after two shutout innings with five punch outs.
Along the Train Tracks:
Round Rock got the scoring started in the first as DH Sandro Fabian drove in two runs on a single up the middle to put the Express ahead, 2-0.
E-Train CF Derek Hill smacked a two-run home run in the top of the second inning and doubled the Express lead to 4-0.
Both teams added a run in the third inning. Round Rock extended its lead to 5-0 in the top of the frame on a sacrifice fly from SS Jonathan Ornelas.
Sugar Land answered in the bottom of the frame with a solo home run by DH Corey Julks and cut the lead to 5-1.
SS Jesus Bastidas hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to bring the Space Cowboys to within two at 5-3.
The bullpens held serve for the remaining three innings with RHP Jonathan Hernandez recording a two-inning save to cap off the 5-3 victory for Round Rock.
E-Train Excerpts:
Making his first start of the year, Express RHP Shaun Anderson recorded 5.0 innings and allowed a lone run on one hit with three walks and seven punch outs.
Express CF Derek Hill launched his second home run of the series on Sunday as part of his 2-for-4 day with a double, two RBI and two runs scored.
Texas Rangers rehabber RHP Jonathan Hernandez picked up his first save of the season after going two shutout innings. He struck out five of the six batters he faced.
Next up: Round Rock will open a six-game series at Dell Diamond on Tuesday, April 23 against the Salt Lake Bees (Los Angeles Angels Affiliate) at 7:05 p.m. CT. Starting pitchers for the series opener have yet to be announced.
