Reno Aces News Release
Salt Lake City, Utah - Andres Chaparro's second home run of the day was the deciding factor in the Reno Aces (11-9) 8-7 victory against the Salt Lake Bees (7-14) on Sunday at Smith's Ballpark. Reno secured five out of six games in the series against Salt Lake with the win.
The Aces found themselves down 6-1 after a disastrous first inning. However, the BLC-Nine was able to rally, generate baserunners, and create opportunities for the offense to score runs. Tied 8-8 in the top of the seventh, Chaparro stepped up to the plate and crushed a Jimmy Herget sinker over the left-center field porch, providing Reno with the lead they needed to secure a win.
Chaparro ended the day going 3-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI. The 24-year-old finished the series going 9-for-24 (.375) with three home runs and seven RBI. He is now tied for 3 rd in home runs in the Pacific Coast League with six.
Adrian Del Castillo stayed hot at the plate, registering three hits in five at-bats including a double, and his fifth home run of the season, he drove in two. The Miami native boasts a .355 batting average this season, ranking 4 th in the PCL. He leads the PCL in SLG (.726).
In his second appearance as an Ace, Christian Montes De Oca entered the ninth to close out a tight game, collecting his second save of 2024 without allowing a Bee to reach base.
The Reno Aces will return to Greater Nevada Field on Tuesday, April 23, to take on the Sugar Land Space Cowboys, Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros, in a six-game series.
