Round Rock rallies to beat RedHawks 7-6

Round Rock rallied from a 5-0 deficit in the top of the first inning on Monday night to beat Oklahoma 7-6 in the series opener at The Dell Diamond. The Express tied the game 6-6 on a Hector Gimenez bases-loaded double in the fifth off R.A. Dickey, who allowed six runs on eight hits in five innings in a no decision.

Lefty Kevin Walker (0-3) surrended a leadoff single in the sixth and a one-out double to Brooks Conrad to take the loss. Conrad went 4-for-4 with two doubles and solo homer, lacking just a triple for a cycle.

Oklahoma received RBIs from Erubiel Durazo, Laynce Nix, Jamie Burke (2) and Joaquin Arias in a five-run first inning, their highest scoring inning of the season.

After building a 6-3 lead through four innings against starter Roberto Giron, Oklahoma did not score off four Round Rock relievers spanning 5 2/3 innings.

The RedHawks have dropped three in a row and five of six. They're six games under .500 at 9-15, matching the lowest point below .500 in RedHawks' history since the team became the RedHawks in 1998. Round Rock has won three straight and six of seven and is 12-10 for the season.

Game two of the series is Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. CDT at Round Rock. Right-hander John Hudgins will start for Oklahoma against southpaw Philip Barzilla.
