Z's losing streak extends to double digits

Memphis scored five times in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat the New Orleans Zephyrs 7-6 on Tuesday night. The Zephyrs grabbed the lead in the sixth inning with a Mike Vento solo home run. The Z's added home runs from Brendan Harris and Wiki Gonzalez in the eighth inning to build their lead to four runs. The Memphis ninth inning rally started with a double and a pair of walks. Travis Hughes was credited with a blown save and Kevin Gryboski allowed a two out flair into left field to score the tying and winning runs. The walk off base hit for Skip Schumacher was his third hit of the game. The loss is New Orleans tenth consecutive.

Game Notes: New Orleans ten game losing streak is the second longest in franchise history. The 11 game streak from April 26 to May 8, 1999 is the longest ever. The hobbling Zephyrs roster has 4 players on the disabled list and has already made 33 roster transactions, this time a year ago New Orleans had made only 22 moves in its record breaking season of 144 player transactions. The Zephyrs offense began play on Tuesday night 12th in the league in hitting and has scored the third fewest runs amongst the 16 teams in the league.
