HEADLINES: RedHawks lose after scoring 5 in the 1st ... Hudgins starts today ... Durazo's streak at 10
TODAY'S OPPONENT: The Round Rock Express are the Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros. They have been a member of the Pacific Coast League since 2005. The franchise re-located from Edmonton following the 2004 season.
TODAY'S GAME: The RedHawks continue eight-game road in Round Rock. This is their 25th game this season, 10th road game and sixth game against Round Rock. The RedHawks have lost 15 of their last 19 games.
LAST GAME: Round Rock gave up five runs in the first inning, but came back to beat Oklahoma 7-6. The RedHawks scored five runs on five hits, including a two-run double by Jamie Burke . It was their only extra-base hit of the game. Shortstop Joaquin Arias went three-for-three with an RBI for the RedHawks. Round Rock's Brooks Conrad was four-for-four at the plate with a home run and two RBIs.
VS. ROUND ROCK: The RedHawks were 6-10 vs. Round Rock last season and 4-4 at Dell Diamond. They won three of four games from the Express in Round Rock in August that helped them win their division. The two teams split their series in Oklahoma earlier this season.
PITCHING MATCHUP: Starting pitcher John Hudgins makes his second start of the season for Oklahoma. In his first start, April 25 vs. Nashville, he went 4.2 innings and gave up two runs, one earned, on two hits with two walks and three strikeouts. He made four appearances out of the bullpen for the RedHawks before moving into the rotation. Lefty Phillip Barzilla starts for Round Rock. He started at Oklahoma April 10 and took the loss, going 4.1 innings and giving up four runs on nine hits.
STREAKERS: Designated hitter Erubiel Durazo is on a 10-game hitting streak dating back to April 19, the longest by a RedHawk this year. During the streak, he is 15-for-35 at the plate (.429) with two home runs and eight RBIs. He has raised his average from .167 to .308 (141 raise) during the streak. The last 10-game hitting streak by a RedHawk was Aug. 6-18 last year when Jason Botts had an 11-game streak. Outfielder Rashad Eldridge is on a five-game hitting streak dating back to April 23. During the streak, he is 6-for-19 at the plate (.316) with one home run and three RBIs. He has raised his average from .259 to .274 (15 raise) during the streak. Relief pitcher Scott Feldman has not allowed an earned run in his last five appearances dating back to April 21 (6.0 innings). He has lowered his ERA from 13.50 to 2.45 (10.05 drop) in his last five outings.
SIX GAMES UNDER: The RedHawks are six games under .500 for the sixth time in team history. They have never been seven games under .500. They were also six games under after the games of July 18, 2005, April 26, 2002, April 17, 2002 , Aug. 28, 2000 and Aug. 11, 2000.
DEREK LEE: Lefty Derek Lee hasn't given up an earned run as a relief pitcher this year (1 UR). He has thrown seven innings as a reliever this year with four strikeouts.
JAMIE BURKE: Catcher and third baseman Jamie Burke has hits in seven of his last eight games. In his last eight games, he is 13-for-29 (.448) with three doubles and nine RBIs. He has raised his average from .196 to .293 (97 raise).
CLOSE GAMES: Twelve of Oklahoma 's 15 losses this season have come by four runs or less. They have four losses by one run, four losses by two runs and two losses of both three runs and four runs. Also, seven of Oklahoma's nine wins have come by four runs or less, including four one-run wins.
DOT-DOT-DOTS: P Rob Tejeda is expected to start today for Texas at Tampa Bay ... The RedHawks have the most errors in the PCL with 31 ... The five runs the RedHawks scored in the first inning yesterday was their most runs in one inning this season.
