Roughnecks at Saint Louis Wednesday, Host Sounders 2 Saturday at ONEOK Field in Season Finale
October 9, 2018 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
FC Tulsa News Release
The Tulsa Roughnecks FC will play its final two matches of the season this week. On Wednesday, October 1, the Roughnecks will travel up I-44 to face Saint Louis FC in their final road match of the season. Then on Saturday, October 10, the season finale will take place at ONEOK Field when the Roughnecks host the Seattle Sounders 2.
Wednesday's match against Saint Louis FC is a makeup game that was rescheduled from July 14 when a thunderstorm forced the match to be abandoned. It will be the third meeting this season against STLFC. On June 9, the Roughnecks were blanked 3-0 at ONEOK Field, and fell 3-2 on August 25 in St. Louis. Jesus Ferreira scored a brace in the loss.
The Roughnecks are coming off a 2-1 loss against the Rio Grande Valley FC Toros. Despite the loss, TRFC possessed the ball for 61% of the match and Joaquin Rivas set the franchise record with his 12th goal of the season. Tulsa is 1-3-1 in its last five matches.
Saint Louis FC will enter the match after a 2-0 road loss to Phoenix Rising FC. STLFC currently sits in 9th place in the USL Western Conference and is fighting for a playoff spot. They are 3-1-1 in their last five matches, and have a 9-2-4 record at Toyota Stadium.
Kickoff for Wednesday's match is scheduled for 7:00 PM and will be streamed live on ESPN+ for fans with a subscription to the service.
On Saturday, the Roughnecks will be back at home when they host the Seattle Sounders 2 in the 2018 season finale. The first 500 fans through the gates will receive a Roughnecks Pop Socket presented by Osage Casino & Hotel, 2 Works for You and 97.1 The Sports Animal. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM in downtown Tulsa.
In addition, the Roughnecks will be hosting the "Rising Above Cancer Auction" that will benefit Assistance in Health Care. The silent auction will feature memorabilia from TRFC and various MLS and USL clubs.
TRFC and the Sounders 2 battled to an entertaining 4-4 draw back on September 5. The Roughnecks had a commanding 4-1 lead in the game thanks to Jesus Ferreira recording the first hat trick in the history of the franchise. But S2 closed the gap in the final 30 minutes of the match, and scored the equalizer on the final shot of the game.
Sounders 2 will come to Tulsa coming off a Wednesday road match against the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. They are 0-4-1 in their last five matches and have not won since August 11. S2 is currently tied with TRFC with 21 points in the Western Conference.
Tickets for Saturday's game are available online at RoughnecksFC.com, or over the phone at (918) 744-5901 or in person at the ONEOK Field Ticket Office. Youth players who wear their team's jersey can obtain any ticket in the seating bowl or on the grass berm for just $5.
The match will also be streamed live on ESPN+ for fans with a subscription to the service For Cox subscribers in Tulsa, the game can be viewed live on YurView 1333.
