
NYRB II Defeat Penn FC, 3-1, Clinch Berth in 2018 USL Cup Playoffs

New York Red Bulls II (12-8-13, 49 points) defeated Penn FC (9-15-9, 36 points), 3-1, Tuesday at FNB Field, winning their second-straight road contest and going five games unbeaten.
The win, coupled with a North Carolina FC loss to Louisville City FC, clinched NYRB II's fourth consecutive trip to the USL Cup Playoffs.
Penn FC opened the scoring in the 24th minute finishing off a counterattack that slipped by the foot of Evan Louro.
NYRB II responded just eight minutes later off set piece to tie things up. Jared Stroud ran near post off a Chris Lema corner, flicking a header past the Penn goalkeeper for his sixth goal of the season.
In the 66th minute, Brian White put NYRB II ahead for good, scoring his tenth USL goal of the year, pouncing on a rebound muffed by the Penn FC keeper.
Jose Aguinaga capped off the match in the 88th minute putting one in the back of the net for his sixth of the year.
Follow Tuesday's match, NYRB II return home for their regular season finale Sunday against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds at MSU Soccer Park. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. ET and can be seen live on ESPN+.
