(Charleston, WV, May 2, 2013): The West Virginia Power fell to the Greensboro Grasshoppers 8-1 Thursday night at Appalachian Power Park. The Grasshoppers scored all of their runs in the first four innings off Power starting pitcher Clay Holmes.

The Grasshoppers scored three runs in the first inning. Yordi Cabrera hit an RBI double and Viosergy Rosa followed with a two-run home run. Greensboro added two more in the top of the second and led 5-0. In the bottom of the second, Wyatt Mathisen singled and advanced to third on a throwing error before Jonathan Schwind hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 5-1. The Grasshoppers added three more in the fourth inning to make the score 8-1.

Clay Holmes (1-3) took the loss after throwing four innings, allowing eight runs on eight hits. The right-handed pitcher walked three batters and also hadthree hit-by-pitches. Scott Lyman (1-2) earned the win for Greensboro.

West Virginia sent four different relief pitchers to the mound. Pat Ludwig, Ryan Hafner, Bryton Trepagnier, and Kyle Haynes combined to pitch five innings of no-hit ball, with Hafner striking out three.

The Power and Grasshoppers will conclude their three-game series Friday morning at 10:30. Orlando Castro will start for West Virginia and will be opposed by Greensboro's Ramon Del Orbe.
