Rome, GA - The Rome Braves defeated the Greenville Drive 7-4 Thursday afternoon in front of 3,705 fans at State Mutual Stadium. It was Rome's eighth consecutive win.
Greenville made it a 1-0 game in first inning on an RBI single of the bat of Aneury Turocy. Rome answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning highlighted by a two run double by Casey Kalenkosky and a sacrifice fly RBI by Carlos Franco forthe 3-1 score. Rome added two runs in the third when Levi Hyams tripled and later scored on a Josh Elander sacrifice fly to make the score 4-1. The next batter, Kalenkosky (3), homered to left field making it a 5-1 game. Greenville added a run in the fourth and two in the fifth to close to within a run but Rome pushed two runs across the plate in the sixth on a two run double from Nick DeSantiago. Rome's bullpen held Greenville scoreless the rest of the way for the 7-4 final. Rome's starter Rafael Briceno (2-3) was awarded his second win of the season and Greenville's RHP Justin Haley (0-4) received the loss. Rome's reliever Shae Simmons was awarded his ninth save of the season.
