Savannah, GA - Earlier this week, Minor League Baseball announced that Savannah Sand Gnats starting pitcher Rainy Lara was named the South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week.
For the week ending April 28, Lara had a 1-0 record partnered with a 0.00 ERA. He allowed five hits in 7 1/3 innings with nine strike outs against the West Virginia Power.
Lara is now 3-1 in his starts with the Sand Gnats. He has 24 strike outs over 24 innings and only walking three. His next expected start is Saturday, May 5 in Hickory. His next expected start at home is Saturday, May 11 versus the Rome Braves.
