June 2, 2008 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Greensboro Grasshoppers News Release
Greensboro, N.C. - The 49th edition of the South Atlantic League All-Star game will see three Grasshoppers suit up to play in their own ballpark as SAL President Eric Krupa announced the rosters today.
Relievers A.J. Battisto, Corey Madden and Garrett Parcell were each voted onto the team by the league's managers, coaches, general managers and media representatives.
Battisto currently boasts a 3-0 record with a 0.77 ERA in 35 innings of work. He has allowed just three runs on the season and has struck out 35 batters in 17 appearances.
In 32.2/3 innings of action, Madden has allowed just four runs while striking out a team-high, 52. Madden has made 21 relief appearances for the Hoppers, posting a 3-0 record with a 1.10 ERA while allowing opposing batters to hit for a mere .179 average against him.
Having finished more than 40 percent of Greensboro's 56 games, Parcell has been at or towards the top of the South Atlantic League in relief appearances and saves all season. Currently, Parcell has made the league's second-most relief appearances (23) and also ranks second in saves (14).
Two other Hoppers will also be part of the action as well. Greensboro manager Edwin Rodriguez was selected as a coach for the Northern Division squad and Julio Hernandez was named the team's athletic trainer.
The gates to NewBridge Bank Park will open at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17 and the festivities are scheduled to include a pre-game autograph session with all of the all-stars and a home run derby.
