Augusta GreenJackets News Release
Augusta, GA - The Augusta GreenJackets (34-23) opened a four game home-and-away series with the Greenville Drive (31-27) on Monday night with a 5-4 win. Starter Daryl Maday recorded the win working a career high seven innings and Augusta got a pair of two run homers from Nick Noonan and Angel Villalona.
Trailing 1-0 heading into the bottom of the first inning, Augusta's Shane Jordan led off the frame with a single to set up Noonan who swung at the first pitch he saw and put it over the right-field wall for a 2-1 Augusta lead.
Three batters later after Garrett Baker drew a one out walk; Villalona pulled one over the left-field wall to give the GreenJackets a 4-1 advantage.
Thomas Neal's RBI double in the third inning gave Augusta a 5-1 lead and proved to be the game winning hit as the Drive scored three more times to pull within one.
