Elmira Jackals News Release

ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, proud member of the ECHL, announced several transactions this morning prior to the club's departure for tonight's game in Trenton and Saturday's contest in Johnstown.

The Jackals signed forwards Zachary Kane and Chris Holmes to ECHL contracts, activated defenseman Chris Busby from the injured reserve list, placed center Brett Pilkington on the 3-day injured reserve and shifted right wing Luke Fulghum from the 3-day to the 7-day injured reserve. Earlier in the week, Jackals captain Frank Littlejohn was placed on the 30-day injured reserve.

Kane will be making his second appearance with the club in under a week's time. After his season with the Jamestown Vikings ended prematurely with the termination of the Mid-Atlantic Hockey League's 2007-08 season, Kane appeared Sunday's 6-2 loss to Johnstown. In 31 games with Jamestown, Kane score eight goals and posted 31 points.

Holmes rejoins the club after appearing in eight games with Elmira December 26th through January 5th with no points and an even +/- rating.

Returning to the line-up for the first time since February 14th's contest against Texas, Busby brings much needed reinforcement to the Jackals blue line. Busby appeared in 47 games with five goals and 18 assists good for 23 points, second amongst Jackals' defensemen scoring leaders (Trevor Hendrikx - 24).

Pilkington has been out of the line-up since Friday night after suffering a concussion in the club's 4-3 shootout loss to Dayton. Fulghum continues his recovery from mononucleosis. Timetables for the return of both players to the Jackals' line-up is still undetermined.

The club also released left wing Yuri Moscevsky from the club Thursday afternoon. In two games with the Jackals, Moscevsky was pointless with 17 penalty minutes and a -2 rating.

Littlejohn underwent surgery Wednesday to repair a broken thumb suffered after being slashed late in Saturday's 3-1 loss to Dayton. His absence removes 19 goals and 30 points from the Jackals roster and effectively ends his regular season with Elmira.
