
Roosters edge Otters

Evansville Otters News Release
The Richmond Roosters scored three unearned runs in the seventh inning giving them a lead that the Otters could not overcome as Richmond won game one of the three game series 6-4.
The Otters took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning. With two outs, Trask Munoz singles, stole second and was singled home by Brian McKenna.
Richmond scored three in the fifth. Andre Simpson got the first two batters of the inning before walking Nathan Gravley. Kevin White doubled home Gravley. Tony Sanguinetti followed on the first pitch with a homer to left to make it 3-1. The Roosters scored three unearned runs in the seventh to make it 6-1.
The Otters made it a ballgame in the bottom of the inning, scoring three runs. McKenna led off with his third homer of the season. The Otters then followed with a single by Scott Ward and back-to-back doubles off the bats of Ricky Clinton and Steve Martin to make it 6-4. However, Richmond relievers Grant Dorn and Dan Caldwell shut the door on Evansville.
Simpson (1-2) took the loss for Evansville. Tony Casoli (1-1) got the win for Richmond.
The two teams go at it tomorrow with Chris Pillsbury (0-2) going for the Otters against Curt Moenter (1-0) taking the hill for the Roosters.
