Evansville Otters News Release
Jared Howton and Beau Massey held the Otters to just three hits as the Richmond Roosters defeated the Evansville Otters by a score of 1-0.
The Roosters got the entirety of the offense in the first inning. Mike Reese was hit by a pitch and came around on a single by Kevin White to score the game's only run.
The Otters twice got a runner to third base, both times Frank Scott in the third and the sixth inning, but were unable to get the equalizer across.
The Roosters appeared to score an insurance run in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Ty Herriot, but it was ruled on appeal that White left third base early, negating the run and keep it 1-0.
Howton (2-1) went six in the ballgame allowing three hits and striking out a season high eight. Massey went three perfect innings for his first save.
Ben Foster (4-2) took the tough loss for the Otters. He went seven innings, allowing four hits, striking our seven.
The series finale is tomorrow with Gibson Southern High School graduate Cody Blackard (0-0) making his professional debut for the Otters against Matt Schweitzer (1-2) for Richmond. There will be post game fireworks. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m.
