ROME, Ga.- Todd Cunningham's RBI triple in the bottom of the seventh led Rome to a 6-5 victory over the Charleston RiverDogs in South Atlantic League action at State Mutual Stadium Friday evening.

The Braves take the first two games of the set and win their 10th home contest in a row against Charleston in improving to 9-7, 39-46 overall, while the RiverDogs lost their seventh straight one-run game in falling to 6-10, 37-48 overall.

Rome took its first lead of the game at 6-5 with two outs in the seventh on Cunningham's RBI triple off Ryan Acosta (4-3) that scored Riaan Spanjer-Furstenburg, who singled one pitch before.

Rob Lyerly and Kyle Higashioka hit consecutive singles to start the ninth against Matt Fouch, and Hector Rabago's sacrifice bunt put runners at second and third with one down. However, Francisco Santana and Kelvin Castro both flew out to shallow right to end the rally and give Fouch his first professional save.

Tom Berryhill (1-1) picked up his first win of the 2010 season in 3.0 innings of one-hit ball, retiring the last nine men he faced.

Charleston scored first for the second straight game, notching a three-run second inning against Rome's Robinson Lopez for a 3-0 advantage. Santana's bloop RBI single was followed by a Kelvin Castro double and a DeAngelo Mack two-run single with two outs.

Rome immediately responded to tie the score at 3-3 off RiverDog starter Sean Black. Braeden Schlehuber lined a RBI single, Phil Gosselin tied the affair with a two-run double.

Lyerly started the fourth inning by crushing a solo home run to right field for his second of the campaign - and first since April 24 - to give the RiverDogs a 4-3 lead.

Black worked 5.0 innings in a no-decision, allowing three runs on five hits with a walk and five punchouts. Lopez also lasted 5.0 innings, surrendering four runs on five hits, while issuing a pair of walks and fanning two

Neil Medchill slammed a double to start the sixth against reliever Tom Berryhill and ended up scoring when J.R. Murphy's chopper to shortstop Edward Salcedo was thrown wide of third increasing the advantage to 5-3.

Two Charleston errors helped Rome score a pair of unearned runs in the sixth against Acosta. Schlehuber's sacrifice fly put the game at 5-4, and Ramon Flores' RBI fielder's choice allowed Christian Bethancourt to score after a throwing error for a 5-5 tie.

Lyerly and Medchill had two hits for the RiverDogs, and both have now posted back-to-back multi-hit games in the series.

Saturday's tilt is set for a 7 pm. first pitch, with Charleston planning to throw right-hander Mike Solbach (2-2, 3.35 ERA) against Rome's southpaw Brett DeVall (4-5, 3.97 ERA).
