Another Come from Behind Win for Rome

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves continued their winning ways against the Charleston RiverDogs with a 6-5 victory Friday night before 3,551 fans. It was Rome's tenth consecutive home win over Charleston.

The RiverDogs scored three runs in the second inning after two outs on a RBI single from Francisco Santana then later a two RBI base hit from Deangelo Mack. The Braves answered with three runs of their own in the bottom of the second to tie the game. Braeden Schlehuber singled to drive in the first run then a two RBI Phil Gosselin double tied the game at 3-3.

Charleston took a 4-3 lead in the fourth inning on a leadoff homerun by Rob Lyerly (2).The RiverDogs would extend their lead to 5-3 in the sixth when Neil Medchill doubled and scored on a fielder's choice and throwing error by Edward Salcedo.

Rome fought back to tie the game with two runs in the bottom of the sixth. After the Braves loaded the bases on back-to-back singles and a fielding error by the RiverDogs' Kelvin Castro, Schlehuber hit an RBI sacrifice fly to score one followed by a Ramon Flores fielder's choice that plated the second run.

Rome took the lead for good at 6-5 in the seventh when Riaan Spanjer-Furstenburg singled and later scored on a Todd Cunningham RBI triple.

Thomas Berryhill (1-1) picks up the win for Rome while Charleston's Ryan Acosta (4-3) gets the loss. Matt Fouch picks up his first save of the year for the Braves.
