King James to Appear on Backstabbers Night

July 9, 2010 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Augusta GreenJackets News Release

Augusta, GA - From Brutus to LeBron James, world history has been littered with backstabbers. People who bit the proverbial hand that fed them and left those who'd long been loyal for alleged greener pastures.

The Augusta GreenJackets will induct the newest member into the Backstabbers Hall of Fame on July 23rd as they host the Greensboro Grasshoppers at 7:05 p.m. Former Cleveland Cavalier and recent Miami Heat signee LeBron James will be inducted into a group that includes many of the world's biggest backstabbers.

King James will be in attendance that night and join historical names as Judas Iscariot and Benedict Arnold, athletic coaches like Nick Saban, Rick Pitino and Rich Rodriguez and athletes like Roger Clemens, Tom Glavine and Marcus Allen that are already members of the Backstabbers Hall of Fame. However, because James' ego is so large - requiring an hour of ESPN's time in primetime - none of the other members will attend due to fears that they won't receive the attention that they crave.

In addition, the GreenJackets will host the sequel to the LeBron James ESPN special called "The Decision" on the 23rd. Manager Dave Machemer will announce to a live television audience on WRDW News Channel 12 where he plans to eat dinner later that evening.

Speaking of food, the GreenJackets will also honor the newest member of the Backstabbers Hall by offering Baby BACK ribs for one night only.

"The Augusta GreenJackets value loyalty and want to take a stand against LeBron James and the way he's hurt the people of the state of Ohio," said GreenJackets General Manager Nick Brown. "We are happy that we work for an owner, Cal Ripken Jr., that understood the meaning of loyalty and his commitment to his community."

To help natives of the Buckeye State cope with their loss, any fan that shows up at the box office window on game night with a valid Ohio Driver's License will be offered special seating in a section staffed with grief counselors. Also, Ohioans will receive two-for-one beverages at the game.

The GreenJackets are currently in the midst of a five-game homestand against the Kannapolis Intimidators, with games on Friday and Saturday at 7:05, a 5:35 game on Sunday and a 12:05 game on Monday. Tickets for all home games can also currently be obtained by calling 706-922-WINS or online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com.
