The Rome Braves scored three runs in the ninth inning to break a 3-3 tie and defeated the Lexington Legends 6-3 Sunday afternoon at Applebee's Park.

Osman Marval led off the ninth with a single. After Chris Curley struck out, Chris Lovett walked. Kyle Rose followed with a single to left, scoring Marval to give Rome a 4-3 lead. When the ball got by left fielder Jake Goebbert for an error, Lovett scored and Rose advanced to third base. It was the first error by Goebbert in 65 games in the outfield this season. Rose scored the third run of the inning on a bunt by Todd Cunningham. The Legends got a two-out double by Jiovanni Mier in the bottom of the ninth, but Jeff Lorick retired Rene Garcia on a fly to right to end the game.

Lexington scored first in the bottom of the second inning. Consecutive walks to Kody Hinze, Goebbert and Jonathan Meyer loaded the bases, and a sacrifice fly by Jiovanni Mier put the Legends up 1-0.

Rome evened the score in the top of the third on a double by Lovett and a single by Cunningham, but the Legends took a 2-1 lead in the bottom half of the third when J.D. Martinez singled, stole second and came home on a double by Goebbert.

In the Rome fourth, Riann Spanjer-Furstenburg tripled to deep center field and scored on a single by Phil Gosslin to tie the game at 2-2. The Braves moved in front in the fifth on a walk to Jake Hanson and an RBI double by Spanjer-Furstenburg, but the Legends tied it again in the bottom of the fifth on Martinez' ninth home run of the year, a solo shot to right field. The score remained 3-3 until the ninth.

Lorick (2-3) got the win. Jose Trinidad (4-2) was the losing pitcher. Each team has won two games in the series, which concludes Monday with a 12:05 p.m. game at Applebee's Park.
