SALISBURY, MD -- Matt Way won his fourth start in a row, and the BlueClaws handled the Delmarva Shorebirds 4-2 Sunday night.

Way (7-4) was outstanding yet again for the BlueClaws (3-1, 45-29), letting up just two hits and a run in six innings. He is now 7-1 in his last nine starts overall.

Lakewood took the lead in the first on an unusual play. With Jonathan Villar on third and Leandro Castro on first, Delmarva (1-3, 33-41) starter Jesse Beal (5-4) balked, allowing Villar to score the first run of the game.

Levi Carolus homered in the 2nd to tie the game, but the Claws jumped back on top in the 3rd. Villar doubled with one out, and came home on a Jonathan Singleton RBI double to make it a 2-1 game.

Anthony Hewitt added an RBI base hit in the 4th to extend the lead to 3-1. Delmarva cut that deficit in half on a Justin Dalles RBI double in the 7th, but Jonathan Singleton belted his team-leading tenth home run in the 9th and Jordan Ellis recorded the last six outs for his eighth save.

Monday at 7:05 pm Lakewood RHP Brody Colvin (4-6. 4.48) takes the hill against Delmarva RHP Bobby Bundy (2-3, 3.94).
