Rojas Signed By Phillies

Bridgewater, NJ - The Three-Time Atlantic League Champion Somerset Patriots have announced that right-handed pitcher Chris Rojas has been signed by the Philadelphia Phillies.

Rojas has a 2-2 record with a 3.14 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 28.2 innings pitched in five games started for Somerset this season.

Rojas has experience in the Pittsburgh Pirates, San Diego Padres, and Philadelphia Phillies organizations, including two seasons of Triple-A experience. He spent time during the 2006 season at Altoona, the Double-A affiliate for the Pirates.

Rojas was 12-6 with a 3.92 ERA and 107 strikeouts in 131 innings in 22 games started for the Reading Phillies during the 2005 season.

He has a minor league career record of 56-53 with a 4.24 ERA and 724 strikeouts in 874.1 innings pitched in 193 games.

Rojas is the third Patriot player to be signed by a Major League organization, joining Noah Hall (New York Yankees) and Jason Anderson (Philadelphia Phillies).

"We are all very happy for Chris. He started to really prove the type of pitcher he is and it is no surprise that he got signed so quickly. Chris came here in hopes to get another shot with a Major League organization and we are happy to deliver for him," said Patrick McVerry, President/ General Manager of the Somerset Patriots Baseball Club.

Rojas is expected to join the Ottawa Lynx, the Phillies Triple-A affiliate.
