
Road Warriors Send Patriots Packing 6-3

Bridgewater, NJ - The Road Warriors defeated the Somerset Patriots 6-3 at Commerce Bank Ballpark on Wednesday evening.
The Road Warriors took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning. Right fielder Stephen Doetsch singled, advanced on a sacrifice bunt by shortstop Gabe Suarez and scored on second baseman Jorge Mejia's RBI single.
The Patriots tied up the game with a run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Designated hitter Josh Pressley walked, reached second on a throwing error, and scored on shortstop Elliott Ayala's single.
The Road Warriors broke the tie with two runs in the top of the sixth inning. First baseman Vito Chiaravolloti doubled, designated hitter Omar Garcia was intentionally walked, and left fielder Jason Bryan was also walked to load the bases. Doetsch then doubled to bring Chiaravolloti and Garcia home.
Somerset tied the game 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning. Third baseman Jeff Nettles walked and crossed home plate on Pressley's two-run home run (2) to left field.
The Road Warriors regained the lead with a run in the top of the seventh inning. Suarez reached on an error and would later score on a fielder's choice to make the score 4-3.
The Road Warriors continued to roll with two runs in the top of the eighth inning. Chiaravolloti singled and was pinch run for by Ian Bladergroen. Bryan followed with a two-run home run (3) to extend the lead to 6-3.
Road Warriors starter Manny Ulloa (1-3) picked up the win, allowing three unearned runs on four hits in seven innings pitched. Patriots reliever Sam Marsonek (2-2) suffered the loss, allowing an unearned run on a hit in an inning pitched. Darwin Soto earned his second save of the season for the Road Warriors.
