LAKEWOOD, NJ - Herlis Rodriguez hit a 3-run home run as part of a 5-run BlueClaws 4th inning as Lakewood topped Kannapolis 6-3 on Saturday afternoon at FirstEnergy Park.

Rodriguez's home run was his first since July 31, 2013 with the GCL Phillies and gave the BlueClaws the lead after they fell behind 3-0. Lakewood got on the board when Joel Fisher was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and added a run on a Tim Zier RBI groundout before Rodriguez's home run.

The BlueClaws (2-1) have now taken two of the first three from Kannapolis in the season-opening four-game series at FirstEnergy Park.

Tyler Viza (1-0) gave up two home runs - a solo shot to Mason Robbins in the 3rd and a two-run shot to Zach Fish in the 4th - but nothing else over six innings to win his first start of the year. Yelmison Peralta allowed the five 4th inning runs to fall to 0-1.

Jesen Therrien threw two scoreless innings and Calvin Rayburn tossed a scoreless 9th inning for his first save. Rayburn has now thrown 17 straight scoreless innings dating to last year with Williamsport (15 last year, two this year).

Kannapolis scored three times on two home runs early in the game - a solo HR by Mason Robbins in the 3rd inning and a 2-run HR by Zach Fish in the 4th inning off Viza.

The series with Kannapolis concludes on Sunday at 1:05. RHP Ranfi Casimiro starts for the BlueClaws opposite RHP Thad Lowry.
