Greenville Drive News Release

Greenville, SC - Thanks to an eighth-inning rally, the Greenville Drive (2-1) came away with a 6-4 victory over the Augusta GreenJackets (1-2) on Saturday night at Fluor Field.

The big inning started with two outs and the score tied at four, as Ben Moore lined a single to right field and Deiner Lopez followed with a walk against E.J. Encinosa (0-1). On a 3-2 count with the runners moving, Derek Miller put the Drive ahead with a single through the left side. Mauricio Dubon followed with an infield single to add an insurance run.

Kuehl McEachern (1-0) hurled two scoreless innings of relief to pick up the victory.

5,410 fans packed the Fluor Field seats to see Boston Red Sox closer Koji Uehara make an injury rehab appearance. He pitched the top of the fifth inning for the Drive, and allowed three hits, including an RBI double by Hunter Cole, but he suffered no setbacks with his strained hamstring and looks to be on track to be activated by Boston on Monday.

For the third straight night, Augusta scored the first runs of the ballgame. Doubles by Cole and Aramis Garcia plated the first run off Drive starter Jalen Beeks, and John Riley added an RBI single later in the frame.

Dubon drove home Greenville's first run of the evening with a fifth inning single that plated Moore, who led off the inning with a double.

The Drive took their first lead of the night in the next inning with a three-run frame that featured an RBI double by Carlos Mesa, a sacrifice fly by Moore and a run-scoring triple from Lopez.

Dubon and Lopez had three hits apiece for Greenville, while Mesa, Miller and Moore each collected two hits. Cole went 4-5 to lead the way for Augusta, and Riley, Jonah Arenado and Randy Ortiz each picked up two hits.

The series wraps up on Sunday afternoon with a 4:05 first pitch at Fluor Field. RH Jeffry Fernandez will start for the Drive, and the GreenJackets will counter with RH Samuel Coonrod.
