Rodon to Continue Rehab, Start Thursday's Game at BB&T Ballpark

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - LHP Carlos Rod?n, who is currently on the Chicago White Sox 60-day disabled list, will make a major league rehab start with the Charlotte Knights on Thursday, May 24th at BB&T Ballpark. Rod?n underwent left shoulder surgery in September (2017).

Rod?n, 25, started his rehab assignment last night and allowed just one run on three hits over five innings of work with Kannapolis (Low-A). He struck out six batters and tossed 65 pitches (42 for strikes). In parts of three seasons in the majors with the White Sox, Rod?n owns a 20-21 record with a 3.95 ERA in 66 games (63 starts). He has compiled 383 strikeouts over 373.2 innings pitched at the major league level.

Originally selected by the White Sox in the first round (third overall) of the 2014 June Amateur Draft out of North Carolina State University, Rod?n made three appearances with the Knights in 2014 and went 0-0 with a 3.00 ERA (12.0 IP). He began the 2015 season with the Knights and posted a 1-0 record with a 3.60 ERA in two starts (10.0 IP) before being promoted to the White Sox on April 20, 2015. He made his Major League debut the next day (April 21) against the Cleveland Indians. Rodon made one rehab start with the Knights in 2016 and three more rehab starts with the team last season.

Gates will open at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 24th as the Knights will host the Norfolk Tides (Triple-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles) in a 7:04 p.m. game. Thursday's game features the team's annual Video Game Knight courtesy of Abari Game Bar. The first 2,000 fans will receive a Royalty Racers Video Game T-Shirt as part of the team's #TBTees series.

The Knights return home to BB&T Ballpark on Monday, May 21st to open an eight-game homestand.
