SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE RAILRIDERS (19-21) @ BUFFALO BISONS (15-16)

RHP David Hale (0-1, 5.52) vs. RHP Taylor Guerrieri (0-1, 5.06)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

| Game No. 41 | Sunday May 20, 2018 | Coca-Cola Field | Buffalo, NY |

| First Pitch 1:05 p.m. | Pregame Show 12:35 p.m. |

LAST TIME OUT: The Buffalo Bisons jumped out to a four-run lead in the first inning, and it was 9-1 before the game had even gotten to the 5th inning as the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders lost 9-2 for a second straight game to begin their three-game series.

The RailRiders got on the board with single runs in the 3rd and 8th innings to account for the lone offense of the day. Eight of the nine batters for the RailRiders had one hit, with L.J. Mazzilli's 3rd-inning home run being the bright spot Saturday afternoon.

Though the Buffalo Bisons notched a season-high in runs allowed by RailRiders pitching, the bullpen pitched very well for SWB. Cale Coshow, Raynel Espinal and Oliver Perez combined for 5.2 innings out of the bullpen with two hits and the lone run being a solo homer by Reece McGuire in the 4th inning off Coshow.

Justin Dillon shut down the RailRiders over seven innings in what was just his second career Triple-A start. Over the two games of this series, Dillon and Friday's starter Ryan Borucki have combined for 14.0 innings with seven hits and one run allowed.

HALE-ING LOTS OF CABS: It has been quite the winding road this season for SWB's Sunday starting pitcher, RHP David Hale:

1/29: Signed to a minor league contract with an invite to spring training

4/6: Assigned to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders

4/22: New York Yankees selected his contract from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders

4/24: New York Yankees designated him for assignment

4/26, 4/27 & 4/28: Minnesota Twins claimed Hale off waivers from NYY | Minnesota activated Hale | Hale DFA'd by Minnesota

4/30: RHP David Hale elected free agency

5/1: New York Yankees signed free agent RHP David Hale to a minor league contract and assign him to SWB RailRiders

5/2: New York Yankees selected the contract of Hale from SWB RailRiders

5/15: New York Yankees designated Hale for assignment

5/18: New York Yankees sent Hale outright to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders --> RHP David Hale elected free agency

5/19: RHP David Hale signed to a Minor League contract and assigned to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders

MAZZILLI FLEXING THE MUSCLE: RailRiders INF L.J. Mazzilli crushed his fourth home run of the season clear out of Coca-Cola Field Saturday in Buffalo. It gives him 4 HR in 73 AB (18.3 AB/HR) this season between SWB and Las Vegas (AAA, NYM). Entering 2018 his career high was 11 HR in 505 AB in 2014 (45.9 AB/HR) and 73.8 AB/HR (26 HR in 1,191 AB) in his career.

ADDING A BAT: INF Brandon Drury rejoined the RailRiders lineup Saturday in Buffalo. After 8G to start the season with the NYY, he was placed on the DL (blurry vision). His first rehab stint with the RailRiders was 8G from April 25 - May 4. He was transferred to the Trenton Thunder from May 4 - May 10 for 6G before being transferred back to Triple-A SWB 5/10 to continue his rehab assignment. Drury was returned from his Rehab Assignment May 14 and reinstated from New York 10-Day DL. At that point he was optioned to Triple-A SWB and has 72 hours to report to the RailRiders, which would have culminated Thursday night.

A RARE SWEEP: Before arriving in Buffalo the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders completed their first sweep of the season Thursday against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. It had been a long time since the RailRiders swept a 3- or 4-game series against Lehigh Valley, dating back to the first four games of the 2009 season, 4/9 - 4/12.
