Rockford gears up for five-game week

The Rockford IceHogs split another pair of games during Week 22 of the 2004-05 United Hockey League season and now get ready for the stretch run with five games this week. The Hogs suffered a tough loss Sunday to the Elmira Jackals, despite outshooting them 48-20. The Hogs have three home games in the coming week including the first ever match-up with the Richmond RiverDogs on Friday.

Wednesday, March 9: Quad City Mallards 3 vs. Rockford IceHogs 4 (so)

Sunday, March 13: Elmira Jackals 4 vs. Rockford IceHogs 2

Transactions

-Goaltender Michel Robinson was loaned to the Milwaukee Admirals on Thursday, March 10.

-Robinson was returned to Rockford on Sunday, March 13.

-Winger Reid Simpson was signed on Sunday, March 13.

Bacon Bits:

Despite out-shooting their opponents in their last six games, Rockford is only 2-3-1.

Rockford's 48 shots on Sunday against Elmira is a season high.

Sunday marked the beginning of six games in eight days for the IceHogs.

Center J.C. Ruid has a point in each of his last five games. During his point streak Ruid has 3g-4a-7pts.

Winger Alex Kim also has a point in five straight contests, 3g-3a-6pts.

The IceHogs haven't won back-to-back games in over a month now. The last time the club won two straight was February 9-11.

For the first time in four years, the IceHogs will play five games in one-week.

Rockford's meeting with Richmond on Friday is the first ever match-up between the two teams.

Hot Hog: Week 22

Center J.C. Ruid: Rockford's team captain had three points in Week 22 and is currently riding a five game point streak. Ruid's 34 goals for the season is the second most goal scored in a single season in Hogs history.

Upcoming Games:

Monday, March 14 vs. Kansas City Outlaws. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m.. The IceHogs and Outlaws wrap up their season series in a game rescheduled from Saturday, April 9.

Wednesday, March 16 at Missouri River Otters. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. The Hogs and Otters meet again in St. Charles for one final time.

Friday, March 18 vs. Richmond RiverDogs. Game time is 7:05 p.m. The first ever meeting between Rockford and Richmond! Friday is the IceHogs annual airplane toss brought to you by Wheels By RT, Y-95FM and 23WIFR. Fans will have a chance to win a trip for two to Las Vegas or a Corvette from Wheels By RT.

Saturday, March 19 vs. Port Huron Beacons. Game time is 7:05 p.m. The Beacons return to Rockford to take on the Hogs. Saturday marks one of the IceHogs most popular promotions; Kids Jersey Night! The first 1,000 kids 12-and under to the big orange box will receive a replica IceHogs jersey from Fat Wallet.Com, WXRX, 104.9 FM and FOX 39.

No Budweiser HogTalk At The Olympic Tavern This Week:

No Budweiser HogTalk tonight at the Olympic Tavern due to the game against Kansas City. The show, hosted by WXRX's Jim Stone and Double T, runs from 6:30-7:30 p.m. each Monday and features IceHogs Head Coach Steve Martinson. The show will return next Monday, March 21.

Season tickets holders can now reserve their 2004-05 Colonial Cup Playoff tickets! Individual playoff tickets will go on sale on Friday, April 8.

Season Ticket Renewals:

Season ticket holders can also now renew their season tickets for the 2005-06 season! Season ticket holders can save up to 10% off of their ticket packages by paying in full by Friday, April 15. Fans can renew their tickets at the season ticket holder table at any remaining IceHogs home game, at the IceHogs office (202 West State Street in downtown Rockford) or over the phone at (815) 986-6465.
