In Brief

· 3/9: Beacons Play A Tight Defensive Game, Still Come Up Short

Shayne Tomlinson (2) was the lone goal scorer on the night when he beat Kevin St. Pierre just: 32 into the second period. From there on out it was the Komets who carried the play, as they would go on to score the next three goals of the night. Daniel Berthiaume made the start and made 38 saves on 41 shots.

· 3/11: Beacons Shut-out for the first time this season

For the first time this season the Beacons were shut out. After 62 games the Beacons did not have enough fuel left in the tank to muster one goal. Also after playing the Wings in five pervious games the Beacons are winless against these conference rivals.

· 3/12: Back-to-back Shutouts

For the second game this season the Beacons were shut out. After scoring at least one goal in 62 previous games the Beacons could not score one in the last two games.

· 3/13: River Otters Take The Game

The final game of the weekend saw the Beacons get on the board, finally. Jeff Goldie (17, 3 as a Beacon) scored just 2:48 into the game off of helpers by Malcolm MacMillan (21) and Josh Tataryn (15). Chris Slater (7) scored the other Beacon goal with assists going to Kyle Sheen (2) and Rico Fatticci (13). Both Stu Dunn and Daniel Berthiaume played in goal for the Beacons; Dunn made 10 saves on 13 shots while Berthiaume made 13 saves on 15 shots.

Upcoming Games: Week Twenty-Three

· 3/16: Mechanics visit McMorran for the final time this season

The Mechanics come into McMorran for the final visit on the season. Thus far this season the Beacons are 4-3-0 against the Mechanics. The Beacons will be wearing St. PatrickÂ’s Day jerseys and will be auctioned off following the game. Part of the proceeds will be donated to M.A.D.D. FACE-OFF: 6:40 p.m.

· 3/18: Beacons travel to Fort Wayne for the Second Week in a Row

The only other team in the league that the Beacons have failed to win against (Kalamazoo being the other). In the five games played the Komets have a 4-0-1 record against the Beacons. FACE-OFF: 8:00 p.m.

· 3/19: The Beacons face the IceHogs for the Fifth Time This Season

The Beacons make their final visit to the Rockford MetroCentre. The IceHogs have the season series edge having a 2-1-1 record vs. the Beacons. FACE-OFF: 7:05 p.m.

· 3/20: The Back End of a Home and Home Series

The back end of the home and home series sees the IceHogs visiting McMorran arena. The ‘Hogs come into McMorran one final time this season in April. FACE-OFF: 5:05 p.m.

Brand-O-Meter!

Aaron Brand is only 14 points behind Michel Beausoleil for third all time on the Beacons scoring list after notching no points this week. Brand currently sits at 54 goals 68 assists for 122 points in 137 games played.

Weekly Nominees

Player of the Week

The Beacons nominate Chris Slater as the Sher Wood Player of the week. Slater finished the week with 1 point in 4 games played. Slater was -4 for the week and tallied 1 goal for the weekendÂ’s action, including 1 PPG vs. Missouri.

Goaltender of the Week

The Beacons nominate Stu Dunn as the Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week. Dunn finished the week 0-2-0 in 108:39 minutes played with 38 saves on 43 shots for a .880 SV% and a 2.77 GAA.

The Beacons have partnered with CN Railroad and Citizens First Bank to award individuals and or groups in the community that have strived to make this area a better place to live, by inviting them to enjoy an exciting night at a Beacons hockey game.

The coaches show returns to the Brass Rail for another exciting season. Join Beacons play-by-play announcer, Dennis Stuckey along with Head Coach, Rick Adduono for in depth analysis of the weekendÂ’s action and questions from fans of all ages. Select Beacon players will also be appearing throughout the season. Of course if you cannot make it down to the Brass Rail you can always tune into AM 1450 and AM 1590, also your home for hockey action all year long both home and away.
