Kelowna Rockets battle the Tri-City Americans

The Kelowna Rockets held off the Tri-City Americans on Friday night at the Toyota Center in Kennewick, WA to pick up their second consecutive win.
Scoreless after one, the two traded goals in the middle period before Kelowna took the lead into the second intermission. A power play goal pushed Kelowna out to a two-goal lead early into the third period, but Tri-City responded with their own power play goal and another in the final minutes to force the game into overtime.
The two headed to a shootout following five minutes of overtime. Tij Iginla and Andrew Cristall were successful shooters for Kelowna in the shootout, where Jari Kykkanen only allowed one goal on three shots.
Washington Capitals prospect Andrew Cristall extended his point streak to six games after posting two assists in. He's recorded four goals and twelve assists over that span.
GAME SUMMARY
Skating in his tenth game of the year, Michael Cicek(4) tapped in his 12th point of the season, matching his previous high set last season through 41 games. Recently returned 20-year-old Calgary Flame prospect Parker Bell (2) responded 61 seconds later with a power play goal. Minutes later, 16-year-old defenceman Jackson Gillespie (1) found the back of the net for the first time in his young career on a drop pass from Andrew Cristall that he released from the right faceoff circle.
Tij Iginla (10) hit double digits on his goal total this season with a power play goal 4:53 into the third period to push Kelowna out to a two-goal lead. Seattle Kraken prospect Lukas Dragicevic (3) pulled Tri-City back within one with their second power play goal of the game. With 3:45 to go in regulation Jordan Gavin (3) tied the game.
After five minutes of overtime, the two headed to a shootout
The Rockets shot first in the shootout. Gabriel Szturc (X), Tij Iginla (goal), and Andrew Cristall (goal) fired for Kelowna.
Deagan McMillan (X), Parker Bell (goal) and Jordan Gavin (X) were shooters for Tri-City.

Kelowna outshot the Americans 37-25
This was the first of five meetings between the Rockets, they'll face each other next on November 7 at the Toyota Centre in Kennewick, WA
UP NEXT
The Rockets will head back to Kelowna for a matchup against the Vancouver Giants tomorrow night. Saturday's game is the annual Hershey Candy Scramble game, kids ten and under will be invited onto the ice surface during one of the intermissions to gather candies from Hershey's. The game will also feature a live band, the Dirt Road Kings, playing throughout the game.
