Published on August 27, 2018 under Western Hockey League (WHL)
Kelowna Rockets News Release
Kelowna Rockets Main Camp continued on Monday for day three.
Beginning at 9:00am, the camp was split into three groups with each group getting a morning practice. The boys were then given a break. One group had a 5:00pm workout, and the other two faced each other in a scrimmage beginning at 5:45pm. The day concluded at 7:00pm.
Rockets forward Wil Kushniryk, entering his second season in Kelowna, is enjoying the speed of camp in preparation for the first preseason meeting of the season on Friday when the Rockets host the Victoria Royals.
"It has been really good to see the guys again, and to be able to get back to the high-paced tempo that we get used to throughout the season. It's really high speed and high tempo and it's good to see the younger guys out there doing well too so it's exciting," said Kushniryk. "We've been working on a lot of conditioning. Just getting back into shape and ready. We've worked on some skills and things like that but most of the focus has been on getting back into shape for the season."
Main Camp resumes for Kushniryk and the rest on Tuesday morning at 9:00am.
Main Camp runs from August 24th - August 30th, with Rockets preseason beginning on August 31st as they host their divisional rivals, the Victoria Royals at Prospera Place. Puck drop is at 7:05pm.
