Saskatoon Blades News Release

Saskatoon, SK - The Saskatoon Blades have made their first signing of training camp, inking 2018 draft pick Sammy May to a Western Hockey League standard player agreement.

May, a forward who hails from Richmond, British Columbia, was selected by the Blades 228th overall in the 11th round of the 2018 bantam draft. Despite his position in the draft, May quickly earned himself an offer on the final day of training camp.

"We're very pleased to have Sammy and his family commit to the WHL and the Saskatoon Blades," said Dan Tencer, Blades Director of Scouting. "Sammy is a driven individual who plays the game with high pace, high skill, and high tenacity."

May spent last season with the Delta Hockey Academy of the CSSBHL where he posted 21 points in 28 games along with 48 penalty minutes. The speedy forward is expected to stay with the Blades through the first set of pre-season games beginning on Thursday in Prince Albert.
