PRINCE GEORGE, BC - The Prince George Cougars Hockey Club is proud to announce the signing of 2003-born forward Craig Armstrong to a WHL Standard Player Agreement.

Armstrong was drafted by the Cougars in the first round, 9thoverall, in the WHL Bantam Draft in May.

"It's exciting for our organization to have our top pick sign this weekend," said General Manager Mark Lamb. "Craig has a very bright future ahead. He's a player with a high skill set that's complimented by an excellent work ethic."

The Airdrie, Alberta, native had a standout 2017-18 season in the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League (AMBHL) with his hometown Airdrie Xtreme. Armstrong amassed 23 goals and 54 points in 34 regular season games and he followed that up with 14 goals and 24 points in 13 playoff games to lead the Xtreme to the 2018 AMBHL championship.

At the 2018 Western Canada Bantam AAA Championship, Armstrong had seven points (3-4-7) in five games, leading the Xtreme in scoring, as they fell 2-1 in double-overtime in the gold medal game. He collected more hardware in the spring, winning gold at the 2018 Alberta Cup in Spruce Grove, Alberta in April. Armstrong had four goals and 11 points in five games with Team Central.
