The Kelowna Rocket finished their regular season schedule with a 3-1 victory over the Prince George Cougars on Saturday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna, BC.
Both Colton Dach and Andrew Cristall posted three-point nights. Dach extended his point streak to nine games, he's posted 24 points over that span.
With a pair of goals and an assist on the night, Cristall finished the season tied for most points scored as a 16-year-old with the Rockets. Both Shane McColgan and Cristall share the record with 69 points - McColgan needed 71 games to reach that total, while it took Cristall 61 games.
It took until the second period for the Rockets to break the scoreless tie, Andrew Cristall (27) and Mark Liwiski (24) scored in quick succession to give the Rockets a 2-0 lead.
Andrew Cristall (28) added to the lead late in the third period. Cayden Glover (6) broke Jari Kykkanen's shutout bid 15:41 into the period.
Kykkanen made 18 saves on 19 shots, while Ty Young stopped 25 of the 28 he faced.
The Rockets outshot the Cougars 28-19.
Both teams were zero-for-four on the man advantage.
The Seattle Thunderbirds and Rockets will renew their rivalry once again when they go head-to-head in the first round of the 2022 WHL Playoffs. Game 1 of the first-round series between the Seattle Thunderbirds and Kelowna Rockets is scheduled for Friday, April 22 at 7:05 p.m. PT at the accesso ShoWare Center.
The series will head north of the border for Game 3 on Tuesday, April 26 at 7:05 p.m. PT (Prospera Place). Fans can purchase their tickets for the Rockets first two home games online at selectyourtickets.com, at the Prospera Place box office or by phone at 250-762-5050. The box office is open 11:00 a.m. to 4:00p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and opens at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday home game days.
