Harrisburg Senators News Release

The Senators and New Britain Rock Cats opened a three-game series Friday night in New Britain with the Rock Cats pounding out a 10-3 win over the Senators. Trailing 1-0, the Rock Cats scored seven runs in the second inning and cruised to the win.

Tim Pahuta was the bright spot for the Senators, hitting two long home runs to give him eight on the season. In the two at bats in which he failed to homer, he did hit long foul balls that had home run distance.

The Rock Cats sent eleven batters to the plate and had the biggest inning a team has had thus far this year against the Sens when they plated seven runs on eight hits. Matt Rizzoti doubled twice in the inning for New Britain.

The Senators amassed eleven hits of their own Friday night, with the two by Pahuta, two by Chris Rahl and two more by Chris McConnell. Every Sens starter except for Devin Ivany had a hit in the game.

Jeff Mandel started for the Sens and lasted into the seventh inning despite giving up the big inning. He hung in there for the Sens and put up zeroes in third, fourth, and fifth innings. Erik Davis pitched the final 1.2 innings for Harrisburg.

Game two of the three-game series is Saturday night from New Britain. Sens' LH Danny Rosenbaum takes the hill against LH Logan Darnell for New Britain. Game time Saturday is 6:35 p.m. with the radio broadcast beginning at 6:15 p.m. on 1460am The Ticket and on the Internet through the Senators website. The game is also on iHeart Radio which is available through all mobile devices.
