Portland, Maine- The New Britain Rock Cats (16-12) used a three run sixth inning to propel the Rock Cats to a 4-1 victory over the Portland Sea Dogs (10-17) Sunday afternoon at Hadlock Field before a crowd of 5,014.

Portland starter Alex Wilson pitched 5.1 innings of outstanding ball allowing one run on three hits while recording five strikeouts. He took a shutout into the sixth inning with the Sea Dogs leading 1-0. Mike Hollimon led off the sixth inning with a double to right field. After retiring Chris Hermann on a pop-up to second base, Wilson was relieved by Caleb Clay.

Clay hit the first batter he faced; Joe Benson and Chris Parmelee singled to center allowing Hollimon to score to tie the game at one. The struggles would continue for Clay, who hit Evan Bigley and fired a wild pitch with Yangervis Solarte batting allowing Benson to score and giving the Rock Cats a 2-1 lead. New Britain would tack-on one more in the inning as Parmelee would score on a ground out by Solarte. Clay (0-1), who allowed three runs on four hits in 1.2 innings of work, was charged with the loss.

New Britain starter Bobby Lanigan (3-2) held the Sea Dogs to one run on six hits over six innings to earn his third win of the season. The lone Portland run scored on a Che-Hsuan Lin ground out to shortstop allowing Oscar Tejeda to cross the plate.

Hermann added an insurance run for the Rock Cats in the seventh inning with a RBI single to left scoring Dan Rohlfing.

Tyler Roberts earned his fourth save of the season pitching three shutout innings for New Britain holding Portland to two hits.

Tommy Hottovy pitched well in relief for Portland tossing two shutout innings and lowering his ERA to 2.04.

Lin and Tejeda were the only Sea Dogs to collect multiple hits in the game.

The Sea Dogs start a seven game road trip Monday night at 6:35 in Manchester, New Hampshire against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. The road trip will also take the Sea Dogs to New Britain before returning to Hadlock Field on Tuesday, May 17th at 6:00 Pm against the Reading Phillies. Right-handed pitcher Stolmy Pimentel (0-4, 7.06) looks for his first Double-A win Monday. He will be opposed by New Hampshire righty Chad Beck (3-0, 2.42).
